David leaves the Waxwings

Earlier this Summer David let me know that Minety Festival would be his last gig with me and the Waxwings.

David first joined myself and Ben for a gig at The Fleece in August last year. He hadn’t played on stage for over a decade, and had never played drums on stage period. His first instrument is actually piano. Or maybe guitar? He sings too, and he programs video game music – for games he makes from scratch. He’s one of those frustratingly talented people, and he’s one of my oldest and closest friends.

It goes without saying that David killed it at The Fleece, and continued to do so at The Exchange, To The Moon, The Electric Banana, The Thunderbolt, Thekla, O2 Academy Bristol(!) and finally Minety Festival 2026.

David also features in the recording and music video for ‘Spot In A Blue Sky’, as well as in my upcoming three singles. After all the effort he put into the songs this last year it’s fitting that his wonderful parts and performances are captured forever.

David has so much creativity to offer to the world and, although I’m sad he’s left the Waxwings, I’m thrilled he has more time to pursue his own passions now. What we’ve achieved together is amazing and I’m so, so grateful for his hard work.

All the best with everything pal. Thanks again.
